Further upgrade of Fogartys Gap Rd

Federal Black Spot Program funding will enable Mount Alexander Shire Council to continue its upgrade of Fogartys Gap Road, including the provision of sealed shoulders. This is a popular route for road cyclists and several have been fatally injured in the last few years. Mount Alexander Cycling supported the funding application.

The works will continue from where the last works stopped – near Woodbrook Road, and finish just before Leversha Rd. They should commence in November 2022 and take about four months.

Before construction, Michael Grinter’s family will remove the white bike memorial near the cutting just before Calder Highway. It will be reinstated after the completion of the works.

The design drawings are on the Council website.
